TWITTER
According to Wikipedia, Twitter " offers a social networking and microblogging service, enabling its users to send and read messages called tweets" and is mostly used to talk about "pointless babble".
If I did not have to attend this class, I would never have signed in, since I have never seen the point in Twitter and I still don't. Twitter might be useful to find people who have similiar viewpoints on certain topics to one's own and post links that might be interesting , but I still do not know why I would want to use it unless I am a person of public interest or an activist of any kind and want to reach as many people as I can with my messages. It might also make sense for news media like the "TAZ" to point their most important news of the day and post a link to the accordant article.
But as a future teacher I will neither be of public interest, or rather I do not want to be, nor am I going to put myself in the spotlight with political statements, for example. Surely I could follow other teachers who might post useful links, but on the other hand I could also join various forums that are more anonymous and only available for teachers. I mean, if I registered on Twitter with my real identity as a teacher, I could not easily follow people whose messages are of a private interest to me, since students might also be registered on Twitter who do not need to know my private interests.
Another reason why I am not too fond of social networks is that I do not want to make too many private issues public, especially not in a world, in which people are observed and their personal data is stored "for their own safety".
And I also know that employers search the internet for information of potential employees and Twitter as well as Facebook,StudiVz, Stayfriends, et cetera may provide information one surely would not want one's boss to know.
Furthermore, I have never been the short-message-kind-of-writer, I rather like to discuss various perspectives, which is why I might find the short messages used on Twitter unsatisfying.
So, all in all, I would like to ask this:

In other words: Why should I as a future teacher make use of Twitter? I do not want to promote myself, I do not want to communicate with such constraints and I do not want to pass along values in a place like the internet, which seems to be a unethical place anyway.
