Word and Tag Clouds - The key to the content of a text
I have seen word or tag clouds in classes before, but I never knew how they were made.
Since I have learned that there are homepages that offer to create such a "cloud" of any provided text, I have been playing around with them and I have already included one into a presentation to visiulaize the most important things at the end of the presentation.
The visualization of the most important elements of a text or a certain topic is - at least to my opinion- the main function of a word or tag cloud and visualizations are significant elements in classes, since they support the process of memorization. If the shape of the cloud also fits to the content of the cloud, its effect might even be better.
I think, these clouds can be the key to comprehend the content of a text and can thus be used in class to help the students to understand a difficult text, since the most important elements are reflected in the cloud.
They can also be used to introduce a new topic or to summarize a topic at the end of a lesson sequence.
In general, I think, these clouds can be useful items for presentations and for the classroom and I am sure that I will make use of them from time to time.
